No commentsI had Charles Colbert as my 4th year studio professor way back at LSU. It was an interesting studio experience. I was probably too young to deal with him and he was too old to deal with me. Regardless, I had one of my best projects in his studio and really started to figure out (or at least thought I did) what I wanted to do. Charles produced some great modernist architecture during his career and was actually the Dean of GSAPP in the 60s. He passed away a couple of years ago. One of his buildings in New Orleans is in pretty bad disrepair, but a great building. Its located in the Treme neighborhood and is slated for demolition. Please check out the above video and show your support if you can here.
No commentsOur studio mates EFGH are part of OPENHOUSE2011. A project by Droog led by Diller Scofidio + Renfro. If you are around this Saturday April 27th there is a symposium at Studio-X.
No commentsOur friend Phil Chang over at WK and part of their black ops in house team, Attack, just wrote an interesting article for hypebeast about middlemen and the creative culture in the city. We are totally into transparency and getting rid of all of the romanticism surrounding design. We think we can do better things and do them faster without all of the bullshit. Its great to see someone not only laying it down like it is, but doing it!
No commentsOur friends Carrie “the boss” McKnelly and Brandt Graves just launched thefuturefuture.com. If you are into to jewelry and 3d printing you should check it out. The future will always be here… tomorrow!
