    Our project Chroma Bloom has been completed and opened along with the new MixC retail complex in Nanjing, CN for the 2023-24 holiday season.

    Our projects Cloud Gazing and Nest have both won merit awards in the 2023 CODAawards in the Transportation and Healthcare categories.

    We have been included in the Maryland State Arts Council’s new Public Artist Roster.

    Our project Bounce with our friends at Davies Toews Architecture is opening at Rabbit Rabbit in the East Village at 209 Ave A on August 3rd at 8:30 pm.

    We are a selected finalist to great a proposal for one of the biggest public artworks in Las Vegas that will be a part of the city’s new Downtown Civic Center Building and Plaza.

    Our projects Cloud Gazing and Nest have both made it into the top 100 of the annual CODAawards. You can vote for people’s choice here .

    Kansas City International Airport’s new terminal opens to the public. We are excited to have our project, Cloud Gazing, installed in the 500 ft main concourse connecting the gateways.

    We are one of four selected finalists for an outdoor artwork as part of the new Computer, Data, & Information Science building on the University of Wisconsin–Madison’s campus

    We were graciously asked along with 10 other artists, designers, and researchers by Zach Lieberman to name and describe one of his blob projects for a website he was commissioned to make by the M+ Museum in Hong Kong. You can check out the website here: Atlas of Blobs.

    We are the selected finalist for a hanging public artwork in the entrance of a new Woman and Children’s Hospital in San Antonio, TX.

    Our sound responsive installation Reflections for FX Networks opens at the Hudson Yards in NYC.

    We are shortlisted for a public art project with New York’s MTA Arts & Design Program.

    SOFTlab was selected to design a large outdoor permanent interactive artwork in a public park in Doral neighborhood of Miami, FL.

    We are one of four finalists for a large public art project in the Memphis International Airport.

    January 24-25, 2020   
    SOFTlab will be participating in Homing the Machine from January 24-25 at The Knowlton School at Ohio State University.

    Our proposal, Halo, is a selected finalist as a new public artwork to be installed in the Charleston East Plaza, a new public space as part of Google’s new headquarters in Mountain View, CA.

    November 8, 2019
    The ribbon-cutting for our recently completed public artwork, Spectral Grove, and the grand opening of Pivot Park will take place this afternoon at 37th and Market Street in Philadelphia. More info about the project here.

    We recently completed a permanent piece as part of the new lobby renovation of 150 Fayetteville in downtown Raleigh, NC. Photos and a video of the project here.

    We just opened a new interactive installation, The Nautilus, we have been working on with The Atlantic and Lincoln at Pier 17.  You can find photos and info about the project here.

    April – September 2019
    Our latest interactive public artwork, Mirror Mirror, has opened in the new waterfront park in Old Town Alexandria. Our installation is the inaugural project as part of an annual public art program, Site See, created by the Alexandria Office of the Arts. Mirror Mirror will be on view and open to the public until September 2019.     SOFTlab has been selected among a pool of invited artists to design an interactive public artwork for a new public park in downtown Alexandria, Virginia.

    Signal Festival is this weekend in Prague and our interactive piece, Iris, will be installed in the Klementium Mirror Chapel. Video and photos of the project here.

    We just finished a new lighting piece, Stratus, in the historic art deco lobby of 315 Montgomery San Francisco for Vornado Realty Trust . You can find a video of the project here.

    We just finished a permanent installation in the front entrance of the new 21C Museum Hotel in Lexington. The hotel was designed Deborah Berke Partners and is an adaptive reuse of an amazing McKim, Mead & White building. More info and photos here.

    Our winning proposal, Nova, will be installed from November 18th – December 12th, 2015 at the Flatiron Plaza as part of Van Alen Institute and the Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership’s holiday programming. You can find more info and photos of the project here.

    Young Architects 14: No Precedent is now available. Published by the Princeton Architectural Press and featuring work by the winners of the Architectural League’s annual competition for young architects and designers.

    We collaborated with the Living on the exhibition design of ReGeneration. The exhibition is the first of its kind at the New York Hall of Science to combine art and science through the work of nine artists. More photos and info here.

    SOFTlab worked with the Architectural League to produce an inflatable and sound installation in the historic Williamsburgh Savings Bank for this year’s Beaux Arts Ball. You can check out photos of the installations here.

    SOFTlab will be a part of a day-long conference, Future Summit Now, at the Center for Architecture organized by Emerging New York Architects. The day-long event includes panel discussions and workshops with a long list of great designers and architects.

    September 5-7 2012
    Michael Szivos will be speaking about SOFTlab’s recent work in Mexico City as part of foro Entre 2012. The overall event spans three days with a number of great speakers, Vito Acconci, Michel Rojkind, Gabriel de la Mors, ToroLab, Archdaily, and many others.

    SOFTlab produced an installation along with the other winners of the 2012 Architectural League Prize exhibition. No Precedent is on view from June 21 — August 3, 2012 in the Arnold and Sheila Aronson Galleries, 66 Fifth Avenue NYC.

    SOFTlab will be speaking tomorrow night as part of the Architectural League Prize along with Seung Teak Lee and Mi Jung Lim of STPMJ and Koji Tsutsui of Koji Tsutsui & Associates. The talks will take place at 7 pm in the Anna-Maria and Stephen Kellen Auditorium at Parsons on 13th St. and 5th Ave.

    SOFTlab will be involved in a series of roundtable discussions at the Center for Architecture prior to the opening of the exhibition  Newly Drawn: Emerging Finnish Architects. The round tables are from 1-7 pm and bring together a number of emerging practices from Helsinki and New York.

    Michael Szivos will be speaking this Thursday, Oct. 28, 2011 at the Vasconcelos Library in Mexico City. The talk is part of a conference held by the Tecnológico de Monterrey. The conference will include all four campuses and both the Architecture and Industrial Design programs. Many thanks to Gabriel Esquivel and Cecilia López for the invite!

    We have installed a large site-specific hanging piece at the north end of Mott Street to act as a gateway to this year’s San Gennaro festival. The piece was commissioned by  Two Bridges Neighborhood Council and graciously supported by St.Patrick’s Old Cathedral. We collaborated with our good friends Ambre and Andrew from The They Co. who curated, organized,  permitted, and all around made the piece possible. You can see photos of the installation here.
